The escalating drought and saltwater intrusion have severely impacted daily life and agricultural production, particularly in the Mekong Delta. In response, FE CREDIT has expanded its humanitarian initiative, “Standing Together for the Community, Turning Dreams into Reality,”to assist disaster-affected and underprivileged residents. As part of this effort, the company has donated hundreds of water storage tanks to communities in Bến Tre and Long An provinces, helping them better cope with freshwater shortages during the dry season.
Providing essential water storage solutions
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from February to May 2025, the total water flow from the upper Mekong River to the downstream and Mekong Delta is expected to be 5–12% lower than the multi-year average. Saltwater intrusion is projected to reach deep into river mouths in the region by mid-February 2025, with the possibility of localized water shortages at certain times due to the intensified intrusion. As a result, drought and saltwater intrusion are expected to persist with complex developments, significantly affecting daily life and agricultural production in the Mekong Delta provinces.
In reality, despite prior warnings, residents of the Mekong Delta provinces continue to struggle with securing and storing freshwater during the peak of the drought and saltwater intrusion season. Phước Vĩnh Đông Commune, Cần Giuộc District, Long An Province, located downstream of the Vàm Cỏ River, has been severely affected by saltwater intrusion since the beginning of the year. Each year, the area is surrounded by saltwater for several months. However, due to the scattered nature of settlements along numerous canals and waterways, delivering clean water to residents remains a significant challenge. Most households store freshwater for irrigation in their garden ditches and keep clean water in large jars or tanks for daily use when tap water becomes salinized. Nevertheless, as the drought and saltwater intrusion persist, families without large-capacity water storage facilities often struggle to maintain a sufficient supply throughout the dry season.
During FE CREDIT’s recent water storage tank donation, residents of Phước Vĩnh Đông, an area heavily affected by saltwater intrusion, were overjoyed to receive these much-needed tanks, helping them cope with the ongoing freshwater shortage.
Mr. Nguyễn Ngọc Lành, a resident of Phước Vĩnh Đông Commune, enthusiastically shared: “From March to the end of lunar new year, Phước Vĩnh Đông suffers from severe water shortages. Now, thanks to FE CREDIT’s donation of a clean water storage tank, we are truly grateful. Having a tank to store water makes the Lunar New Year much easier and more enjoyable. Thank you, FE CREDIT!”

Residents of Phước Vĩnh Đông Commune delighted to receive water storage tanks
Mr. Lê Văn Nhất, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Phước Vĩnh Đông Commune, Cần Giuộc District, Long An Province, shared: “The water storage tanks donated by FE CREDIT are highly meaningful and practical for disadvantaged households in Phước Vĩnh Đông. This support will help residents better cope with the challenges of the upcoming dry season”.
FE CREDIT’s commitment to sustainable community development Beyond providing material support, FE CREDIT’s water storage tank donation program is an annual initiative aimed at collaborating with local authorities to fulfill social responsibilities and contribute to building a sustainable community. Many residents of Tiệm Tôm Town, Ba Tri District, could not hide their emotions upon receiving this practical gift.
Mr. Sơn So, a resident of Tiệm Tôm Town, shared that in the past, before tap water was available, locals had to collect and store rainwater for daily use. Today, while tap water is accessible, saltwater intrusion remains a challenge. Even after treatment, the water still contains salinity.
As he quickly set up the newly donated water storage tank, Mr. Sơn So expressed his gratitude: “This year, thanks to FE CREDIT’s support, my family finally has a proper water tank to store fresh water for the dry season and saltwater period. We no longer have to rely on makeshift containers, and that makes me really happy!”

Mr. Sơn So’s family will no longer face freshwater shortages during this year’s dry season and saltwater intrusion period.
Sharing the same joy, Mrs. Lê Thị Sáu, a resident of An Thuận Hamlet, Tiệm Tôm Town, expressed her gratitude upon receiving the water storage tank: “I am so happy to receive this water storage tank today. My family couldn’t afford one, so we had to carry water from afar. Now, we won’t have to fetch water anymore. My two grandchildren will finally have access to clean water for bathing and cooking. I feel so relieved.”.
This donation program underscores FE CREDIT’s dedication to supporting local communities. Beyond providing timely assistance, it represents an investment in the future, aiming to help residents overcome challenges and promote long-term positive and sustainable impacts on the environment and society.
Over the past year, FE CREDIT has continuously carried out impactful humanitarian initiatives, spreading positive values throughout the community. In Ho Chi Minh City, the company has supported the “Pair of loving leaves” program by donating three scholarships worth 150 million VND, providing children from particularly disadvantaged backgrounds with the opportunity to access education. Additionally, FE CREDIT collaborated with Dân trí Newspaper to implement scholarships in Bac Lieu province, offering 100 scholarships to hardworking, underprivileged students. Notably, in Ha Quang District, Cao Bang Province, the company joined forces with the Sài Gòn Giải Phóng Newspaper donating 100 scholarships worth 100 million VND, helping students overcome difficulties and paving the way for a brighter future.

FE CREDIT will continue to implement meaningful community programs, supporting communities in realize their dreams into reality in the future
Amid escalating climate change and increasingly urgent environmental and social challenges, FE CREDIT remains committed to creating positive and sustainable values, contributing to the protection and development of both the environment and local communities.
Mr. Lê Quốc Phận, a representative of FE CREDIT, shared: “For years, severe drought and saltwater intrusion have created major challenges, directly impacting daily life and agricultural production. Understanding these difficulties, FE CREDIT aims to contribution by donating clean water storage tanks. This is not just an immediate relief effort—it reflects our commitment to standing with the community through difficulties.”
Moving forward, FE CREDIT will continue to expand its corporate social responsibility initiatives across various provinces and cities.
